There were fabulous trends on the catwalk for this season that will definitely be seen on the streets. One of the trends is surprisingly the Mini. Baby Phat showed a jersey Mini with a quilted vest. Marc Jacobs paired a pleated Mini with opaque tights, and Tracy Reese created a minimalist Mini outfit with polka-dotted tights.

Over-sized purses were hot as well this season. Marc Jacobs had his models walk down the runway carrying soft leather over-sized bags adorned with wide handles. Heatherette and Baby Phat constructed metallic purses in diverse styles perfect for fashionistas and even designed trendy dog carriers for celebrity pets.

Diane Von Furstenberg designed a beautiful turquoise, knee-length dress with tucks at the waist and three-quarter sleeves. Badgley Mischka structured a wool dress with tucks at the neck and waist. Tracy Reese showed a metallic mini dress with pleats at the bust.

Big prints were seen in classic collections like Carolina Herrera as well as in more trendy, fashion-forward collections like Heatherette. Carolina Herrera used Scotland-inspired plaid in a bustier dress with a balloon skirt. Marc Jacob’s flapper dress accented with cascading red leaves was exquisite, while at the Heatherette show a sleeveless dress with graphic prints was a collection highlight.

The style of the season may well be the pleats & tucks seen on dresses and coats due to the overwhelming trend on the runways, so make sure to incorporate them into your wardrobe. Shopping for the fall/winter is such an exciting endeavor this year with the incorporation of these new ideas, and there is something for everyone.
