Many spring-summer 2010 fashion shows were carried out under the motto “militarism and craziness” and customized denim fashion revealed these tendencies as well. The most stylish jeans of the season spring-summer 2010 are skinny, torn, of dirty khaki, gray, blue or black colors. They are best of all combined with long sweaters or tops in military style. Other trends are the 1990s and a sexy look.

Dyed jeans are still in, this spring they come in skinny, straight, torn, short and long variants. Another reminder of the 1990s’ fashion are custom jeans in grunge style which look as if they have been worn for several seasons. Boyfriend jeans are still popular too. For example, such jeans can be found in the latest collections of Ralph Lauren and Jean Paul Gaultier. The latter fashion house presented its variation of boyfriend jeans wide on the thighs and tight on the ankles. Unique brand presented their vision of boyfriend style grunge jeans fitting women’s figure, however they are also very relaxed and extremely worn.

Extraordinarily embellished subculture jeans will also be fashionable in the coming season. Trussardi presents its extravagant jeans model 1911 with pockets worn and torn. Just Cavalli denim collection is built on the combination of denim fabric with flower ornaments. Jeans decorated with zippers, rivets, chains and prints are also a trend of spring-summer 2010.

Classical jeans are timeless and in the new season they are certainly worn as well. Worn straight-cut classical jeans can be found in the newest collections of D&G, Getwear, William Rast and Alexander McQueen.

Elegant skinny black jeans are a hit of the coming season, as well as cuts, jeggings and gray jeans. Banana Republic brand also presents denim trench coats and worn denim shirts combined with cotton cardigans and linen dresses. Another novelty of spring-summer 2010 is the use of denim patch pockets.

Denim shorts are of immediate interest during hot summer days. They are comfortable and practical. Spring-summer 2010 season presents ultrashort denim shorts of black and red colors. Torn shorts and shorts with cuts are also in. The best shoes to combine them with are ballerinas and shoes with high heels. The best accessories are massive colliers and bracelets, belt-bracelets and massive sunglasses as well as aviator sunglasses.

Jeans with corsage popular during the season autumn-winter 2009/2010 stay for spring and summer, too. Made to measure jeans with corsage are embellished with buttons and lacing and look exquisite especially in dark colors. Such jeans make your waist look slimmer and your legs visually longer, their importance can not be overstated. The best way is to combine jeans with corsage with a white blouse, short bolero or a jeans jacket. All the more so, double denim stays popular during the coming season, too. And don’t forget about high heels! Stay tuned on GetWear jeans!

During last parisian week of Haute Couture, in the luxury hotel Méridien Etoile, Ylan Anoufa presented his first collection called “Decadence”.

« Anoufa » is a true family story. Ylan was born in Paris but he grew up between the French capital and New York. He has showed a great interest in arts and fashion from a really early age. His grandfather’s influence has certainly proved essential in this career choice. He was actually the one who created in 1939 the fashion house that bears his name and today and his grandson now wishes to continue the family tradition with the utmost care.

Ylan was only 16 years old when he designed his first jeans collection that was available in the famous parisian shop Killiwatch but the young man had much more ambition for the future and he quickly decided to move back to New York. At just 18, he became the Head Designer of GTFM Group, which posseses several major streetwear brands such as Fubu U.S. Collection, Drunky Monkey, Coogi, Kappa, Heatherette or Willy Ecko. He continued to develop his career by designing for Seven Jeans before going one step further by co-founding two labels: Ziami Brand and Muscarii. Finally in 2008, he became the Head Designer of Fashion TV Clothing Line.

Reinforced by thoses experiences, he has now come back to Paris where he opened an independant fashion house called Ylanjeans Studio. His first collection adresses to young, daring and sexy women who dare to express their femininity and their impertinence. Ylan Anoufa presented different looks from confortable summer outfits to urban and rocky clothes.

During the show, the models assumed a fun and self-confident attitude. They all wore plastered hair extensions to make them look a little bit wild. The eyebrows were studded with metal gems and eyes were very smoky for an even more rock n’roll look. In addition to that, they wore long fake blue and metallic nails with small chains that tied them together.

Chains were could also be seen in the clothes themselves. They proved to be really sexy accessories escpecially when used as a belt or when laced at the back of short dresses. Their lines could trully flatter the swaying. This fashion collection also included several variations of laced-up clothes. A close attention was also paid to the work on the cuts. Small tops, dresses or even pants could be made of strips of woven material.

Regarding the colors, fabrics were all painted by hand. The tones varied from a range of faded colors to sparkling blues. Different patterns could also be found such as tie-dye or camouflage. Ylan Anoufa has also presented a line of accessories which included braid woven bags. The whole result is a simple and effective collection that could perfectly suit modern and urban women so the young designer might certainly soon reach the young and fashionable audience he is looking for.

Spring season is one of the hot favorite fashion trends for each fashion lover. Spring and Summer 2010 one of the hot fashion trends is super short hot pants and boy shorts, definitely isn’t for everyone, So if you cannot pull off showing this much leg, ripped and torn denim jeans are a great way to show a little leg and get some ventilation on hotter days that you don’t feel like wearing shorts. If you are girl then you can look for the right style of ripped and torn jeans that suit you- skinny jeans, high-waited jeans, dark jeans, etc. 2010 Spring /Summer Fashion trends include minimalism, high-voltage patterns, romanticism, sweet pastels, glamorous look, little wild look and a soft-looking woman’s revealing sheers. Summer/Spring 2010 is hitting in the market with latest fashion trends. Blue is a first Wearable spring fashion trends for 2010.

In this season you can show 8 types of most wearable fashion trends like a blue fashion, Metallic Fashion, Asymmetric Fashion, Global Fashion, Peek-a-Boo Fashion, Painterly Print Fashion, Floral Fashion and Maxi Dresses. Spring/Summer 2010 is also about lightness and romance. Soft dresses and featherweight tops will have a strong Grecian drape feel. The big story of the summer is most of show opened with nude, ice-cream colors, making cut and drapery the big style statements as opposed to eye-popping colors. A general lack of clothing will be approved of too – your underwear must look its best next summer because if it’s not on show it’s not worth wearing – only to be covered by swathes of knotted and ruffled sheer chiffon – and a touch of lace will keep things interesting.

By Sandrine Goncalvès

Since her first show in 2000, Ann Valerie Hash has seduced with her original vision of fashion and her taste for the transformation of clothes. The queen of the androgynous look – as many call her – who found her style by diverting men’s clothing, has managed once again to mark the week of Haute Couture in Paris in an original and stylish way.
She was absent from the catwalks in 2009 but she came back this year with an intimate but entirely original fashion show called “Confessions” that was simply held in her Paris studio.

To develop her new project, she has asked some friends and personalities from the worlds of fashion, art or show business to give her a garment they really cared of and that best reflected their personality. The pieces she collected proved all very different. Albert Elbaz, the artistic director of Lanvin, offered some pajamas. Lea Seydoux gave an African bag while Jean-Paul Gaultier gave a sailor sweater. Bettina Rheims chose to offer a dress by Azzedine Alaia and Pete Doherty an old military jacket he wore while playing with his band Babyshambles. Among the 30 people she contacted,14 answered positively.

Then, Ann Valerie Hash recycled those 14 garments in various ways: by embroiding them with sequins or by covering them with organza for example. Each clothe was dismantled and reworked in a real game of deconstruction-recontruction. The designer has really given them a new life as they sometimes were unrecognizable on the catwalk. Thus, Albert Elbaz’ pajamas became a silk tuxedo and Bettina Rheims’ dress was changed into cavalier boots. The designer even successfully converted a ballet shoe into a glove.

To achieve such astonishing results, she has worked hand in hand with well-known craftsmen such as the Maison Fabre, which is specialized in the manufacture of gloves, the renowned luxury shoes manufacturer Massaro, the famous hat manufacturer Maison Michel and Schlaefer Jacob, the Swiss specialist for textiles.

For Ann Valerie Hash, the difficulty laid in transforming the garments while respecting the personality and style of the people who gave them. She also confessed she had taken great pleasure and fun by creating this collection. She explained she has been seduced by this « cast off chic » or « second-hand luxury » as it can be called because she saw it as a breath of fresh air in the actual fashion industry.

According to her, people buy way too many clothes and such a collection represents a return to a more sensible fashion. Finally, this recycling work also reflects the current trend for ecological matters as well as an affection for things linked to the past.

Ann Valerie Hash also likes to think about this work as an artistic research rather than a simple fashion collection as it will certainly never be sold. Furthermore, she has always been conscious not be financially able to compete with prestigious houses like Dior or Chanel. So, she had to fight on another field, that of creativity and experimentation. The result is not only surprising but also touching and intimate.

How to have a chic but relaxed style according to the French fashion brand Chloe?
By Sandrine Goncalvès

For the next summer, Chloe’s Designer Hannah McGibbon has decided to revive the army theme that has already witnessed a huge success this past winter season. This can be first seen in the colour palette which is limited to a range of neutral tones, such as simple white, beige, khaki, camel or powdered pink. Camouflage printings may again prove to be a major trend for the coming summer.

The key in the creation a perfect urban casual wardrobe lays in the balance between comfort and elegance. Hannah McGibbon chose simple but noble fabrics such as linen or silk. Priority was given to full and fluid pieces of clothes to achieve a total freedom of movement. The cuts are sober and structured but they are not deprived of charm, though discreet.

The style can appear quite boyish for the designer did not hesitate in borrowing ideas in the locker rooms of both sexes. Jackets or shirts are straight cut and trousers are wide. A special attention has to be paid to the pant-suits, all declined in white or camel. They give the models a touch of masculine class and allow them to play on the ambivalence of sexes.

This only extravagance seems to be found in the association of clothes that seem to have nothing to do with each other. The designer ventured small original mixings such as small strict masculine shirts worn with long and loose skirts made in silky fabrics or cloak worn over tiny shorts. In addition to that, models always wore flat leather sandals. Absolutely no heels were seen in the catwalk. This style can perfectly be imagined on a chic working woman living in the city or a globe-trotter. Actually, the collection is supplemented by a complete line of travel accessories made of crocodile skin.

The end of the fashion show then reveals a series of beautiful dresses which gives the collection its final touch of glamor. These dresses are very long and fall to the ankles. All designed in translucent and fluid fabrics, they are reminiscent of a certain 70’s style, not to say hippie.

Regarding the hair, it is let loose, soft and wavy. The skin is not made up at all. Naturalness is really pushed to its paroxysm. No wonder it is the seductive Brazilian top model Raquel Zimmerman who has been chosen to embody the face of the advertising campaign for this collection. Her simple looks make her the ideal person to become the image of the brand.

Hannah MacGibbon has really succeeded in reviving the former romantic style of Chloe, which has been somewhat neglected by her predecessor Paulo Melim Anderson whose collections were not as successful as expected.
A graduate of the famous St Martins School in London, Hannah MacGibbon first worked for Valentino before joining Chloe and Phoebe Philo, the former artistic director with whom she worked five years. Phoebe Philo and Stella Mac Cartney are really considered as the designers who settled Chloe as the fashionable romantic brand. Hannah McGibbon definitely seems ready to continue this legacy. Her secret ? Creating simply cut clothes that are to be worn lightly and casually yet always stylishly.

Between Strength and Fragility

By Sandrine Goncalvès

A show by Lanvin is always one of the most anticipated events of the Parisian Fashion Week and the presentation of the next summer collection did not disappoint the lovers of chic and glamour.

Albert Elbaz, the artistic director of the brand, has shown once again that dresses and skirts may constitute the minimum necessary for a wardrobe. Fashion does not necessarily imply too much complication. In the morning, a woman simply needs a suit or a dress or maybe two dresses worn one above the other for a more sophisticated look. Lanvin’s last fashion show perfectely illustrated this statement. Day time strictness was expressed through dark suits, in black or dark blue, that were made of fabrics usually used for men’s outfits.

Dressed this way, the woman becomes a strong and sexy working-girl in her blazer and miniskirt. The second part of the show focused on the evening short and skinny cocktail dresses. Often asymmetrical and draped, these dresses are to be worn with heavy jewelry. They were sometimes embroidered with sequins or pearls for a sparkling effect. If they were not wearing skirts or dresses, the models presented fluid jumpsuits made of pleated silk. The fabrics were always noble and silky and their fluidity embellished the body curves. The volumes of these evening gowns softened and the silhouettes expressed a sense of fragility and vulnerability.

Recalling modernised goddess dresses, fabric could be wrapped asymetrically around the body and simply attached to one’s shoulder thanks to a beautiful piece of jewelry . The waist was then highlighted with a thin belt. Albert Elbaz wanted to give the impression that the fabric was literally thrown on the body in a natural movement that created the shape of the outfit. He wanted to create clothes with no corset, no interior construction of any kind, as if the pieces of fabrics were only held with strings or a few ribbons.

For him, this has been the most difficult collection to create because of the natural movement of the fabrics that were difficult to master. Finally, the final clothes do not look like the original drawings at all and both could be considered as two separate collections.

A woman dressed in Lanvin also dares to display voluminous jewelry ; large bracelets and cuffs, big earings and necklaces. In terms of makeup, the eye is very smoky but glossy. The eyebrow is almost invisible as if discolored. The complexion is nude to enhance the eyes. As for the hair, it is tied in a knot round the top of the head.

The resulting look is totally glamorous, elegant, sophisticated and at the same time really fatal. The mini-dresses worn while the eyes are made up in black give a slight touch of agressivity. The women who dress in Lanvin are strong women who know their destiny but who can also show sensitivity and emotion. No wonder this brand represent an absolute definition of modern feminity.
Imagine, it all started with a simple tiny tee. These now infamous tiny tees were worn at a Phat Farm runway show as promotional tools which caught the eye of celebrities, supermodels, and fashionistas alike. A star was born. This new, urban fashion brand was set to shoot right into the stratosphere.

Baby Phat Beginnings

Baby Phat officially began as a sportswear collection. Naturally, Kimora was to transform this budding brand into an American clothing icon. Her daunting task was to merge hip-hop apparel and high-end fashion. Needless to say, she pulled it off flawlessly. Kimora’s experience as a top fashion model and her relationship with Phat Farm founder, Russell Simmons, helped catapult Baby Phat to the forefront of urban fashion.

The Fab Lane

Undoubtedly, Kimora’s personal style greatly influenced the Baby Phat brand. The collection has been featured in Bazaar, Seventeen, Star, Vibe, and many other widely circulated magazines. The variety of publications featuring the collection speaks to the crossover appeal of Baby Phat. Celebrities known to have to donned this chic, urban apparel include Paula Abdul, Britney Spears, and Alicia Keys.

Kimora Lee, a St. Louis native, was an established model by the age of 13. Early on it seemed Kimora was destined to live the life she now leads. During the 90s, the pinnacle of the supermodel era, Kimora Lee was the fresh face on international runways. By age 16, she had modeled for world-renowned designers Giorgio Armani, Yves St. Laurent, Gianfranco Ferre, Givenchy, Fendi, and Richard Tyler. Her experiences as an elite fashion runway model prepared her for the challenges of running a fashion empire. To her credit, Kimora is a mother, TV personality, businesswoman, and still remains a frequent runway staple.

Worldwide Recognition

Baby Phat’s sleek feline logo is recognized internationally and is synonymous with style, poise, hip, and quality. The denim collection is always fun, sassy, glamorous, and feminine.
Balenciaga Spring 2010 Collection, a crafted look into the future of fashion

By Sandrine Goncalvès

Under the chandeliers of the luxurious Hotel Crillon, Balenciaga has presented its summer 2010 collection that revealed itself much more sportswear than usual. Those who expected to see the common parade of cocktail dresses, were amazed at the multiplication of slim pants and hooded jackets.

Nicolas Gesquière, the artistic director of the brand, actually said he wanted to reconnect with his first love, which is urban fashion. He then left evening gowns aside in favor of looks more urban, sporty and futuristic. He really wanted to revive his old style, the same that witnessed a huge success during the presentation of the fall/winter collection in 2007/2008.

Being a true lover of science fiction and new technology and being a great admirer of haute couture, Nicolas Guesquière decided to express the balance between all these worlds by combining exceptional craftsmanship and sophisticated technology. If you look closely at the hooded jackets for example, which first look seemingly simple, you will realize that they are composed of extremely complicated knitted pieces of leather.

Leather work is actually very developed and it is maybe the most important part of this collection. Nicolas Guesquière not only played on a combination of different types of leathers, but he also attached very much importance to the shapes and cuts. Indeed, he worked hand in hand with a really talented Parisian artisan specialized in the weaving of this special material. The pieces of leaser were laser cut and than hand-colored using vegetable dyes.

The details of the clothes are finally always very impressive. Some other prooves of this meticulous work are the mini-skirts that are composed of a multitude of small loops of leather that certainly required countless hours of work. Leather can be found everywhere, from the hooded jackets to the skinny trousers. It is also present in the shape of strips adorning muslin tops or in blue or orange squares stuck in dresses. This is probably the first time that this type of material is so much worked upon in a single collection.

The first group of models who walked through the hotel rooms was called “the dark” or “the grudge” because it really resembled a small army of Templars in hoodies.
One must not forget that there is always a touch of fantasy and darkness in the work of Nicolas Guesquière, which is such a huge fan of horror movies. The second part of the show was called “the scratch” because each piece of clothe offers a detail to discover, be it a layer, a special cut or an opening. What is also always remarkable is Nicolas Guesquière’s taste for solid textures and thick volumes.

This fashion adventurer, as many call him, claims to be back to his own personal roots with these urban figures, the graphics and simple shapes that perfectly represent the woman who lives in the city. With Balenciaga and especially Nicolas Gesquière, searching for past references is truly irrelevant as one always has the feeling he is viewing an innovative approach of fashion, a true expression of avant-garde.
